What is Lokpal Bill?
The Lokpal is a proposed body to be enacted as a law by Parliament, which will be headed by a chairperson who is or was a Chief Justice of India and eight other members. The Lokpal Bill, an effort to rein in the pervasive corruption in public life, was first mooted in the late 60s, However, it failed to become law despite successive attempts. The basic idea of the Lokpal is borrowed from the office of the ombudsman in other countries. It provides for filing complaints of corruption against ministers and members of parliament with the ombudsman.

Facebook snatches NIT Warangal student for Rs 45L salary
HYDERABAD: It's raining lucrative jobs at NIT Warangal which has had the best placement season so far. The 51-year-old institute started its recruitment drive on August 15 and already has a 21-year-old fourth year BTech computer science student securing the highest ever pay package of Rs 45 lakh per annum. The offer, made by Facebook, has created a record of sorts here. The institute confirmed that the student will be joining the technical wing of the social networking giant, as soon as he completes his course in March next year.

NEW DELHI: Details of Swiss bank accounts given to WikiLeaks by private banker-turned-whistleblower Rudolf Elmer has a few Indian names. The data revealed names of Indian entities including two apparently linked firms ? Annapurna Convertible and Anna Investments ? and two individuals Asad Ali Khan and Zahida Ali Khan . The story was reported by the television channel, Headlines Today, which said that it was not in a position to verify the details.
2,000-yr-old box can shed new light on Jesus death
LONDON: Researchers claim that a 2,000-year-old biblical burial box — rescued from antiquities looters — could provide a new link to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The ancient limestone box — or ossuary — is believed to reveal the location of the family of Caiaphas, the high priest involved in Christ's crucifixion. Now, a team at Tel Aviv University, Israel say the box, confiscated by Israel antiquities authority, have revealed the Caiaphas' family home before their exodus to Galilee.
